Kaluna is seeking a Couple or two individuals to fill two Journeyman Positions
There are two different positions we would like to fill in the next couple of months. One will work directly with Meghan, and is explained below. The other will work with Ben, and is also described below.
Journeyman Farmer Permaculture Journeywoman
Harvest Table Farm is a mixed vegetable operation run by Meghan Cole. Located in Talking Rock, GA, the farm offers an incredible diversity of organically-grown (not certified) vegetables or local Farmers’ markets, an on-site farm stand and restaurant sales. Harvest Table Farm also offers full and half shares of produce for a 22-week CSA (Community Agriculture) program.
We are seeking an energetic, responsible team player to fill our Journeyman Farmer position. The position runs from the beginning of February 2015 until the end of the following January 2016.
The Journeyman Farmer will work in conjunction with the Farm Manager on field and greenhouse production to provide for the Community Supported Agriculture program, farmers’ markets, on-site farm stand and restaurant sales. Responsibilities will focus on staffing the farm stand and training and supervising first year interns, and volunteers. This is a higher-level internship position aimed at providing a supportive environment within which farmers can gain the skills needed to operate independently.
Working hours: Monday to Saturday (8-5 pm), with seasonal extended hours.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
This position is a full-time, year-long, residential, stipend position. The stipend of $150 per month is provided in addition to the following benefits: housing, seasonal produce and eggs from the farm when available and vacation*. This position also receives a percentage of produce profits from weekly market under their supervision.
The Journeyman Farmer Intern receives 12 days of paid vacation per year. Vacations are subject to manager approval.

Ben is seeking someone who is passionate about Permaculture, Spiritual Growth, Culture Repair, and the Natural World. We are planting the seeds of an Eco-centric Culture. We will fertilize and water our seeds through education, ceremony, outreach, and building.
This position ask for someone who is excited to work with nature, and can help administer and promote our school and project to the world. Our vision is rooted in this place, and sees itself being part of a global network of Earth-based learning campuses. You will be asked to add your voice and vision with others who are also passionate about leaving an Earth-centered culture to the next generations.
The Permaculture Journeywoman will work cocreatively with Ben on many varied projects. You will help me design, plan, implement, initiate, build, and maintain many systems and projects. Your role is to support Ben in all levels of management and outreach.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday 8-5 with flexibility to reschedule hours due to weather and your needs. This is a 40 hour/week job. You will be asked to spend some hours on various chores on some weekends. Most weekends will be yours.
Our Project Responsibilities:
You will be directly accountable to Ben for this position. You will also have the opportunity to consult and work with our Elders. This will help you balance your process and growth with others in the community.
This position requires a certain amount of flexibility, patience, compassion, will power, adaptability, playfulness, and love. The work at times will be mentally, emotionally, and physically demanding. We will expect you to pro-actively seek ways to balance yourself during and outside of work. That may look like meditation, quiet walks, ???
Term of Employment
This position is a full-time, year-long, residential, stipend position. The stipend of $150 per month is provided in addition to the following benefits: housing, seasonal produce and eggs from the farm when available and vacation*. There will be opportunity for off the farm income from other family sources. Upon completion of the year, this role will be offered the opportunity to seek full-time community membership.
